Awards & Stipends 

 

Division I

Choreographers working with professional dancers of seasoned artistry and fully mature technique ages 18 and up.

 

  • Grand Prize - $10,000
  • Second Place - $5,000
  • Solo stipend - $1,000
  • Duet stipend - $1,500
  • Small Group stipend - $2,000
  • Ensemble stipend - $2,500

 

Division II

Choreographers working with pre-professional dancers from aspiring and emerging companies, colleges and studios.

 

  • Grand Prize - $3,000
  • Second Place - $1,500
  • Junior Choreographer Award (18 and under) - $500
  • Solo stipend - $500
  • Duet stipend - $750
  • Small Group stipend - $1,000
  • Ensemble stipend - $1,250

 

Application Process & Details

 

  • The Festival includes a competition/performance in two divisions. Choreographers may submit work in one or both divisions. The Festival reserves the right to make division recommendations based on the body of work received. The goal is to maximize the Festival’s ability to present deserving work.                                                                               

Division I

Choreographers working with professional dancers of seasoned artistry and fully mature technique

Dancers must be at least 18 years of age

Choreography must not exceed 11 minutes

 

Division II

Choreographers working with pre-professional dancers from aspiring and emerging companies, colleges and studios.

Choreography must not exceed 7 minutes

 

  • Complete an electronic application form and provide a video link per work submitted.
  • Multiple works per choreographer may be submitted. Separate application forms and video links are required.
  • Incomplete materials or those exceeding the time limits listed above will not be processed.
  • The video link must contain only the choreography being submitted and remain active until August 31, 2022. No exceptions.
  • Professional recordings are not required, but attention to quality, clarity and point of view are essential for accurate judging of choreography. A straight shot is preferred. The Festival panel will not view media-enhanced, highly edited or promotional-type submissions. Do not submit footage with jump cuts, dissolves. etc.
  • Finalists will be selected for both divisions based on the materials submitted.
  • Finalists chosen will travel to Palm Desert, California to perform the submitted choreography live at the McCallum Theatre before a general audience and panel of judges and compete for cash awards. (see awards listed above)
  • Finalists are responsible for travel arrangements and other related expenses. Finalists traveling from out of the country must provide documentation to work in the United States in order to receive their stipend/award money.
  • Proof of full COVID 19 vaccination - two Pfizer/Moderna or one Johnson & Johnson shot(s) - is required of all participating choreographers, dancers, tech personnel, etc.
