Why Open Call?
We love tap and we love tapping together. Reaching for the moon, by preparing and auditioning for Open Call was a new and stimulating stretch goal for our group. Our group has performed for others at Joslyn Community Center, an assisted living facility and in annual dance company performance.
We are inspired by Lorna Thompson, who taught most of us for years and by our new instructor and choreographer, Keith Mottola, who performed on Broadway, for Disney and owned a Boston-area dance studio. Famous tappers such as Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire, Tommy Tune and Savion Glover also inspire us. We are inspired because tap dancing is an original American art form that evolved alongside jazz. The art form we love has had a tremendous resurgence in recent years.
We can do that!
To win Open Call.
