The tale of a lonely young man who rescues a Mermaid, then journeys to the Land of the Dragon Queen at the bottom of the sea, is brought to life in this dynamic collaboration between NEA Playwright Fellow and storyteller Brenda Wong Aoki, Emmy Award-winning composer Mark Izu and a number of extraordinary musicians. When poison from the Land Above threatens the Sea People, he learns that all is connected — there is just one ocean, one world. A work in progress, slated to premiere in September 2013, this performance invites audience members to experience a work of art still in search of its fullest gestalt.
